Vehicle Registration Process in Telangana
According to The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 its mandatory for every citizen in India to get their vehicle registered in the state in which they have purchased for Telangana people they need to get their vehicle registered in Telangana RTO also note that within the span of 30 days its mandate to get your vehicle registered and for that below documents are required.
Documents required for vehicle registration at Telangana RTO
- Application in Form 20*
- Sales certificate in Form 21*
- Form 22* i.e. roadworthiness certificate
- Address proof documents
- In the case of Ex-Army Vehicle, a sales certificate has to be obtained from concerned authorities in Form 21
- PUC certificate
- In case of registration of an imported vehicle, a customs clearance certificate
- Applicable application fee
- Tax to be paid as per the Telangana Motor Vehicles Act, 1988
*While purchasing the vehicle Form 21, 22 and 22A is given by the vehicle dealer along with the invoice.

Temporary Vehicle Registration Process
To register a vehicle temporarily, the applicant must submit their application in Form 20 as stated in the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989. The form should be marked as ‘Temporary’ and submitted to the dealer of the new vehicle or the Registration Authority. The details from particulars 23 to 32 are to be compulsorily entered unless it’s a transport vehicle.
Extension of Temporary Registration
A temporary registration is valid for a limited period. However, its validity can be extended by submitting an application to the Registering authority. Following are the list of documents to be submitted:
- Photocopy of Sales certificate – Form 21
- Road worthiness certificate copy (in Form 22) from the vehicle manufacturer
- Copy of Insurance certificate
- PUC (Pollution Under Control) Certificate
- Address proof (Aadhaar card, copy of Ration Card, phone bill, Electricity Bill, any other utility bill)
- Design approval copy of STA (for Trailar or Semi Trailar)
- Original Sales Certificate copy from concerned Authorities in Form 21 (In case of an ex-army vehicle
- Customs Clearance Certificate (In case of Imported Vehicles)
- Fee to be paid for temporary registration of the vehicle or validity extension
- Tax payment to be made

Permanent Registration of Vehicle In Telangana
For permanent registration certificate of two-wheeler/vehicle, an application has be made in Form 20 to the Registering Authority. The application must be made within 7 days from the date after the vehicle is delivered by the dealer/manufacturer. The following is the list of necessary documents:

Renewal of Vehicle Registration in Telangana
Renewal of vehicle registration in Telangana has to be done after 15 days from the date of issuance of the number. Vehicle registration renewal can be done at RTO Telangana on submission of the below documents:
- Vehicle registration certificate
- Vehicle insurance certificate
- PUC certificate
- Form 25
- Applicable application fees
An application for renewal of vehicle registration has to be made before 60 days from the date of expiry.
Transfer of Vehicle from Other State to Telangana
In case an individual has migrated from other state to Telangana and wants to permanently register his vehicle in the state, then he can register his vehicle in the state by following the below process.
The applicant will have to submit the above mentioned documents along with no objection certificate to the Telangana RTO. The no objection certificate has to be obtained from the original registering authority. The applicable application forms and road tax has to be paid along with. On inspection of the vehicle and verification of the documents, the new vehicle registration number is given to the applicant.

Issue of Duplicate Certificate of Registration
An application for duplicate Registration Certificate (RC) can be made in Form 26 if is stolen, misplaced or lost. If the vehicle is covered by a financing agency/bank, the application form must be attested by the financer too. The form has to filled and submitted to the registering authority along with below-mentioned documents:
- Copy of police FIR
- PUC (Pollution Under Control) Certificate
Change of Residence
In case you wish to record a change in the residential address in the RC, an application has to be made to the RTO by the owner of the vehicle in Form 33. Following documents are to be submitted along with the application:
